OOTD: From the office to dinner

Blue damask dress from Little Misstress

Dress – Glamorous, Shoes – Primark, Bag – Little Mistress

I’m going to start with a confession. It takes me a good ten minutes to do the zip up on this dress, but I can’t bare to get rid of it! It’s not every day you find a royal blue damask print dress for a tenner, but it seems anything is possible in Manchester’s Northern Quarter!

Royal blue may seem a little wintery, but I don’t tend to wear too many bright colours against my pale skin. I can just about get away with this during summer still.

Slightly formal but still playful, I can pretty much wear this for any occasion. Hence the title! I’ve worn this dress to a pitch meeting at work, dinner with my fella and most recently a family friend’s wedding. I have no shame in double wearing. I practically live by Gok Wan’s ‘£1 per wear’ rule. As mentioned, this was only a tenner so I definitely got my money’s worth!

Not only that, but the dress itself hasn’t worn down due to my excessive wear. The zip that’s fit to burst under my weight still hasn’t bust (yet), but what else would you expect from Glamorous clothing? They don’t ship cheap goods. I like to think that every time I wear clothing from Glamorous, I’m supporting Manchester’s bustling fashion industry. You may smirk, but we have more here than you think! Public Desire, Miss Guided, Boohoo; Manchester is a hub of ecommerce giants.

Little Mistress blue bag

Anyway, back to the outfit! I’m loving my Little Mistress bag too. I actually won this on a Freebie Friday giveaway that the brand hosted on their Twitter. I was so chuffed! Faux snake is not something I’d be bold enough to purchase but I honestly love it and would now consider investing in more far out prints. I’ll definitely be going back to Little Mistress again. I want to know if their clothes are as high-quality as the bags.

This outfit post is a bit of a love fest, but there is one aspect I’m not a fan of – the shoes. I love the look of them but they are, without a shadow of a doubt, the most painful shoes I’ve ever had the misfortune of wearing. I mean, they are Primark so I didn’t expect to be walking on down feather pillows. However, there really is no need for such a short heel to cause my feet so much trauma.

I bought them as an emergency pair for interviews and they show their face every time I’m feeling a bit brave. It’s a shame because they are really nice. I’m not going back for a new pair though, you know how I feel about shopping in Primark.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to track down the dress for sale, but if you’re a fan of damask print you’re going to love these beautiful cocktail dresses I’ve found:

  1. Awh no, your poor feet! That blue colour is seriously SO stunning on you! And if that Little Mistress bag comes in black it’s getting added to my wish list xx

  2. The 10 minutes doing it up is well worth it as you look stunning in it. I’m a huge fan of Royal Blue, it’s such a pretty colour in the summer. I think I may need to visit my local Primark now x
