It’s rare that I get surprise parcels, but this week I received something extremely exciting! These goodies are from a new online bath&body company called Soaprise Me. A few weeks ago they got in touch to say they’d be launching their September batch soon and I jumped at the chance to try them.
As soon as this bloggermail landed on my desk, you could smell the contents throughout my whole office. I had no idea what was in the box, but I was so eager to find out! I’ve decided to break down this review piece-by-piece so you can really get to know the range.
The bath melt…
The gooseberry tea bath melt was lovely, however I would say it had more of a musky fragrance than a fruity one. It packed quite a punch when I first sniffed it, but once it hit the water the scent diluted and softened.
One thing I loved about this product was that unlike other shea butter bath products, I didn’t have any greasy residue to clean up after use. I often find that brands go a little overboard with the butter and oils sometimes! Luckily this bathmelt didn’t leave me sliding around my bath tub.
The ends of my hair that dipped in my bath water soaked up the fragrance and I could still smell them the next day.
I thought this was a soap at first but it’s actually a solid shampoo. I absolutely love solid alternatives to liquid bath products so I was keen to try this. My initial thoughts? It smells amazing! I’ve used this twice since opening the box and I was really impressed with the foaming. To use this, I simply swipe the bar across wet hair and foam it up with my hands. Whilst this is a lemon scented bar, it didn’t feel like the citrus was stripping my hair and I’d say this was safe enough for regular use.
The bathbombs are individually wrapped to retain freshness within 100% degradable packaging, which definitely gets a thumbs up from me.
I was instantly drawn to the strawberry daiquiri bomb as it was the strongest smelling item in the box. The scent was exactly as described. As soon as this bathbomb hit the water the whole bathroom was enveloped in an intense strawberry scent. I assumed that, like the bath melt, the scent would dilute and become softer in the water but it actually got stronger!
The next one I want to tell you about is the water melon scented bathbomb. Again, the fragrance amplified as soon as it hit the water. I was actually really impressed with the strength of the fragrance, but I must say if strong perfume isn’t your cup of tea try going for softer scents like vanilla.
The final bathbomb in the box was the delicious smelling strawberry pavlova. This was just as strong as the other fragrances but the sugary sweetness took the edge off. This bathbomb turned the water a lovely pink colour which left no trace once the water had drained.
One thing I will say about all these bathbombs is that they didn’t foam. They still fizzed and turned the water a glorious rainbow of colours, but you didn’t get those instagrammable foam trails on top of the water. I definitely think the quality made up for this though.
The soap is possibly my favourite item from the whole box! I felt refreshed after using it and it didn’t have that squeeky-clean residue that other soaps often leave behind. I’m the type of person to get bored of using soaps after a while, but the slice that came in my box was the perfect amount for me. Which is good because then I have an excuse to try even more from the range.
Would I use again?
Soaprise.me have a pretty big range so I’d definitely try some more, particularly because they stock brands I’ve never come across. If you didn’t want to commit to a subscription box straight away, they do also sell bathbombs separately which are super cheap! When I double checked the prices I was extremely surprised at the great value for money you get – bathbombs start at £1.50.
Having said that, the surprise of not knowing which items you’ll receive each months is tempting! There’s plenty of different subscription options and they’re worth checking out.
Thank you to Soaprise Me for sending this gift. As always all opinions are honest, but please be aware that this box was sent for review.
