Ambling around Manchester last weekend, I came across the first Northern Quarter Market. I love how NQ has become a hub for local indie businesses to bloom, so I flitted between the canopies to see what I could find.
Among the street food stands there was distinct sweet smell that only a true bathroom connoisseur, like myself, would have recognised. Drawn to the floral haze that beckoned me, I walked ahead of my fella who seemed to be distracted by the craft brew stands.
‘Would you like a hand massage?’ I was greeted by two of the loveliest ladies. I often get a little worried about approaching artisan dealers, but the ladies on the Bubble Off stall we’re so welcoming.
Enticed by sweet smells, pink potions and giant bath bombs I was somewhat overwhelmed by the offerings. Emily & Clare talked me through the whole range, proudly stating the lengths they go to ensure all their cosmetics are of excellent quality. From the grade of the oils to the fact they’ve recently been awarded ‘Queen of Vegan Cosmetics’; these sisters really knew their stuff.
It was not only inspiring to see two women in business, but seeing how passionate they were was absolutely amazing!
Their range was certainly impressive, but there was something in particular that caught my eye…
At this point I really didn’t know what to think. Sat under a unicorn, aligned packets of what looked like fairy dust. ‘It’s the most glittery, most mica filled product you’ll ever find.’ I had to test this out!
They weren’t wrong! Although the packet looks like dust, it’s actually compacted so that you can snap chunks off.
As you drop some into the water it fizzes away quite quickly, unleashing a burst of incredible fragrance. The colour dissipates in the water, so theres no need to worry about your bath staining.
I’d liken the scent to retro sweet shops – rhubarb and custard perhaps? It was gorgeous and really lasted on my skin. The little story on the packet says the unicorn which supplied this grows strawberries and bananas, which could have been a hint to the scent, but thankfully there was no synthetic banana scent. Only a delightfully sweet aroma.
If you’re into your colourful fizzies you should know that this left my water clear, but the sheer amount of glitter certainly made up for it! My bath tub look like a disco ball! I desperately tried to get a clear photo, but to no avail – you’ll simply have to take my word for it and try it yourself!
I was also kindly given a tester of their bubble gum hand & face cream, which smells absolutely divine! This pot has been passed around the office, as I’m certainly not the only one that can’t get enough of it. One of my co-workers actually said it smelled like her childhood!
I’ve only used it on my hands thus far, because my facial skin can be quite temperamental. My hands smell great though, like the chewing gum you used to get at the end of an icecream screwball, remember them?
After getting so caught up in the idea of unicorn poop I didn’t get any other bath bombs, which I deeply regret! I’ll definitely be putting a payday order as they have loads of stuff on their website. They’ve also recently opened a shop in Reddish, Stockport and visit a range of local markets if you want to smell the products before you purchase.
This product definitely met my expectations and I can’t wait to try out more!
