Everything you need to know about the Lush Cosmetics Manchester launch

It’s finally here, the moment Manchester has been waiting for – Lush Arndale has moved into a bigger and better unit! This means more products, more fun and even a quirky little hide away at the back of the shop…

I popped down to the launch after awkwardly begging Richard, the manager, for an invite. “I have added you to the list of VIPs for tomorrow. The night starts at 6pm, just head to the new store next to LEGO and Office. I’ll not say anything else as I don’t want to ruin the surprise.” As you can imagine I was absolutely thrilled to be part of the launch. In fact I’m still sat here now grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

What makes the new shop so good you ask? Well…

Lush plant pots
This store is the second biggest Lush Cosmetics shop in Europe
This unit used to be the old Ark shop, but it somehow looks much bigger now that Lush has occupied it. It doesn’t have an upstairs like Oxford Street, but it is flipping huge! There’s much more space to explore and the shop has been beautifully decorated in a typically Lush fashion.

It’s probably still going to be chocca at Christmas time
It’s a bigger space yes, but this is Manchester and this is Lush. People LOVE Lush, but particularly so in Manchester. We go wild for it. Take it from me, I was foaming at the mouth like a bloody bathbomb just because I found the Smuggler’s Soul shampoo.

You might find a few exclusives
There were whispers that a few Oxford Street pieces would make their way up to Manchester’s new Lush store. I found a few on the night but I’ll let you hunt them down yourself. I have every faith that with the next season launch Manchester Arndale will get a few exclusives. It only makes sense.

Of course not all of us can make the pilgrimage to Oxford Street, so who knows, the big MC might make Manchester Arndale a half way point for Lush fans. That’s all total speculation though!

Lush Cosmetics Manchester greenhouse

Lush Manchester greenhouse

There’s a greenhouse
Hidden away in the new Lush Manchester Arndale is a little secret garden; A space reserved for private consultations, where you are surrounded by the fresh ingredients that you’ll find in your skincare. Whilst the shop was packed on launch, you can definitely imagine how peaceful this little hideaway would be. This is such a nice touch and reinforces the Lush ‘fresh is best’ motto.

They use slates now
Instead of playing pass the parcel with bowls of facemask, Lush now serve up skincare on a platter! It actually adds a really cool element to consultations and makes things so much easier.

There’s a new party space
In store Lush events have always been pretty cool, but imagine hosting a get-together in their brand new store! There’s a cute little space for parties now. At the launch they were hollering attendees over to play a game similar to Pictionary, but you make things out of ‘Fun’ soap instead of drawing!

I’d say the parties were obviously for the younger Lush fans, but I’m 24 in October and I’m already considering it!

Lush Cosmetics Make up
The new make up is everything you’ve ever needed in life
I love Lush, but I must admit I didn’t expect the make up range to be this good. I think this was because historically the range has been a bit fiddly to use in my opinion.

But gee whizz, they have utterly excelled themselves this time. Thankfully, the lipsticks are now actual sticks and emotional brilliance comes in a much easier to use pot.

The new eyeshadows are super pigmented and if you put water on them they have a subtle colour change. If that wasn’t magic enough, wait until you see the lip barriers. They look like white Crayola crayons and are the number one selling make up product from Lush Oxford Street. I don’t want to spoil the surprise, so you’re going to have to go and see them for yourself. Trust me you will be amazed!

Lush Kitchen in Manchester

There’s a kitchen counter near the window
This obviously won’t be a permanent feature, but it does give Lush the option to send compounders up for demo days.

Dan from the Lush Kitchen (actual Dan) was in store making fresh batches of Angels on Bare Skin and Black Pearl. I didn’t manage to grab any Black Pearl, but it was fascinating to see it being made. I did however, grab some fresh AOBS and ask Dan a million and one questions about how he became a compounder. He started out as a soap packer and now he’s an elite member of the Lush Kitchen team – imagine that!

This also gave me the opportunity to put in a few kitchen requests. If Jingle Spells or Street Party come back, you have me to thank!

The Arndale team are absolutely amazing
Lush has 4 shops in Manchester. The Bury team are wonderful and the Market Street staff are lovely – but team Arndale are clearly the best (sorry, not sorry)! No team deserves the upgrade more than these guys.

Lush Cosmetics biscuits were on offer as the store opened.

As I entered the shiny new store, I was handed a basket and a knot wrap. “Walk around clockwise and see what goodies you find.” I actually felt like Alice in a bathbomb wonderland, picking up as many crazy items I could find. I’ll be reviewing all of the goodies I was gifted and ones that I purchased in a follow up post, so make sure you’re following and pop back soon!

If you’re in Manchester, you absolutely have to get down and check out the new store. The new Lush Cosmetics shop in the Arndale is essentially Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory for beauty fans. The North’s mecca for cruelty-free cosmetics, some may say. There really is no place quite like Lush!

I’m glad it’s moved into a larger unit – it was always far too small and this looks like a lovely store. Will have to check it out when I’m next in town!
