Have you ever queued for breakfast? You wake up feeling like a zombie, following the bitter trail of coffee in the air. The last thing you probably want to do is queue, but let me show you something that’s worth it…
Moose is tucked away behind Primark on Market Street, but don’t let its humble surroundings fool you – this place is no secret. People from far and wide flock to this Canadian/American cafe to tuck into fluffy pancakes, huge plates of potato hash and stacks on stacks of bagels. They do say breakfast is the most important meal of the day after all!
You’ll be hard pressed to find anything on the menu that doesn’t sound incredible, even green eggs (pesto eggs) manages to make you drool.
But importantly, let’s start with the coffee. A key component in my morning routine, there’s nothing I love more than a posh coffee. The Moose macchiato gives you that perfect morning buzz with a sickly sweet caramel kick. Luckily you aren’t tempted to over do it with a large, coffee only comes in a standard size. Venti lovers beware! You’ll probably only need one of these along with your meal, you’re going to need some room for the huge portions!
For some reason the first time I visited Moose, I decided to take on the Bronx Brunch Green Line. This massive serving of potato hash is a goldmine of cherry tomato jewels, grilled halloumi, artichoke, peppers and garlic. Even when you think you aren’t going to finish, the quest to find all the halloumi spurs you on.
Topped with two eggs, you can almost pretend you’re doing this to bulk up and get hench. You’ve got to get your protein, right? The truth is this glutenous mass isn’t fooling no one and will leave you with a total food baby. Guess what? It’s totally worth it!
A finishing touch of house cajun ketchup cuts through to wake up your taste buds as you try to take on this huge hash. I simply couldn’t finish!
My fella ordered this giant stack of pancakes after much deliberation. With a little pot of syrup and crispy bacon, this decadent breakfast was just as big of a challenge as mine! “It was really nice, but I just couldn’t finish.” – That’s high praise from him, he usually vacuums up any food in sight so he took admitting defeat pretty hard.
I’ve had the pancakes myself once, minus the bacon of course! I went for the much more rich salted caramel apple stack. I’d sat next to someone digging in to them one time and they looked incredible. I have to say though, I think it depends on what chef you have. When I first saw the apple pancakes, they were topped with chunks, yet the dish I had was comprised of slices of apple with the skin still on, which gave quite an unpleasant texture. The dish was delicious regardless, but it’s probably worth asking how they’re serving it on the day!
Overall this place is an absolute crowd pleaser, Moose is perfect for veggies and carnivores alike. The ultimate way to get yourself ready to take on the crowds of Market Street, Moose Coffee possibly serves up the best breakfast in Manchester!

This looks amazing – definately adding to my Manchester hit list!!
This sounds so good, how have I never tried pesto eggs before?! I’ve heard people mention the Liverpool branch of Moose Coffee a lot recently but heard quite mixed things about the coffee. I’d never realised how good the food looked though so I think I might have to stop by and find out for myself soon 🙂

It’s well worth it Anoushka! If you put your name down on the list when it’s busy and there’s a 40min wait, you can just go for a mooch around Primark and come back :)!
Lovely review! I’ll have to visit next time I’m down in Manchester.

What an amazing review – you’ve made me want to go to this place so much! Both of your breakfasts look and sound amazing, but the one I want to try is the salted caramel apple! I’m such a sucker for salted caramel.

I always miss out on Moose because it gets SO BUSY at weekends and I get hangry and never wait. Next time I may just have to wait, because wow, that brekkie looks fab!
