A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending Lagan’s Foundation Charity ball with my co-workers. We’ve attended the event two years in a row to show our support as a company. This year we headed up to The Brinsop in Bolton to raise money for such an important cause.
Lagan’s Foundation helps to organise home support for sick children. They do a fantastic job and help to support hundreds of families who desperately need a hand caring for their little one. They focus on those with children who have feeding difficulties and heart issues.
As you can see, the girls I work with definitely made an effort! When I first heard the words ‘charity ball’ I totally panicked about what to wear. Did I want a long dress, cocktail dress or sophisticated two-piece?
The thing is, you don’t want to be under-dress or over-dressed. A ball gown would definitely have been over the top, but I needed something a little special. Thankfully that’s where Luxemme came in and saved the day! This gorgeous dress was the perfect middle ground.
I always worry about wearing white. I’m a terribly messy eater – possibly the most embarrassing thing a 23 year old can say. I’m not quite toddler with spaghetti level bad, but I’m definitely a miss-your-mouth-with-the-coke-can kind of gal! Navigating my way around a mushroom stroganoff during the evening had to be done with real tact.
I’m also not used to wearing crop tops! The thought did scare me a little but each piece comes together in a way that makes it look like a dress, rather than separate components. The detailing is lovely too. Less is more then it comes to lace. Personally I think that subtle lace makes something look a little more expensive, whereas full lace dresses tend to age after the first wash. The trim on this feels substantial and after washing I can confirm there’s no unsightly pulls!
My bag is from Koko Coture and matched my emergency heels. As I mentioned earlier, I’m not one to usually wear white so I had to make a quick dash to Primark. My entire collection of shoes consists of black everything, which simply didn’t look right at all. For more sun-kissed skin tones this dress would look fantastic with tan shoes. I’m almost as white as this dress though!
I was so impressed with my Luxemme Olivie Lace Trim two-piece* and I’ll definitely be styling each piece separately over the winter party season. Who knows, perhaps this is the start of a whole new wardrobe?
Bye, bye emo Jess, hello light and airy clothing!
Such a beautiful outfit – perfect for a charity ball!
