Coat – New Look, Scarf – Oasis, Jeans – Topshop, Boots – Primark
It’s getting a bit nippy now isn’t it?
I know it always rains in Manchester, but the weather has been rather intense as of late. My commute to work now makes me feel as if I’m battling against the elements, so it’s about high time I invested in a brand new winter coat.
I’m used to wrapping up in my big parka. It’s built for the outdoors and I’ve had it for three years. This on the other hand broke within 2 months, only on the pocket lining thankfully! For £50 I can handle sewing up the pocket every now and again. I did fail A-level Textiles though so it could be a risk!
That’s the thing with winter coats though. You either get one of those big, bulky windbreakers or a smart, not-warm-at-all show coat.
I chose the show coat and I’m living to adapt! Note the big plaid scarf, my sister bought it me. It’s the most cosy thing I own and I love it. It’s the perfect pair for this coat because it adds the warmth I need without changing the look of my coat.
Layering up is one of the best parts of winter, no matter how much I complain. I’ve developed quite an obsession with turtle neck jumpers at the moment too – so 90’s! You can pick them up anywhere these days and you’d be so surprised at how warm you’ll be with just an extra inch of material on your neck.
Nothing makes me feel more cosy in winter than piling on as many items as possible, with layers upon layers of chunky knits. I’ll even steal one of my fella’s Carhartt jumpers if I have to (just don’t tell him I said that)!
Gone are the days I’d totter around town on a night out with the girls in weather like this. I might sound like a total grandma, but nothing beats the snug feeling of multi-layers in winter. I’m making myself cold just thinking about queuing outside 5th Ave.
If you’re visiting the Christmas Markets this year or just going out to do your Christmas shopping – make sure you wrap up warm! Oh and if you have the choice… stick to your parka!
